School project
For two years (2008-2009), we had a pre-school project in Pisaq in order to contribute to the education of some kids in town, giving them an option of an alternative education based on a peaceful living, respect of their environment as well as academic development amongst other things. It was a small project and worked fully while it lasted.
We had two wonderful volunteer teachers Maggie and Meagan who helped us and two main teachers putting the whole project together, Magdaly and Carolina. With our ten kids, we learned, we played, we went to excursions and we set a seed that wish will still grow inside of each of them.

Even though we are very happy with the results, since 2010 we choose to close the pre-school and support a bigger educational project that is working in Huayocari, also in the Sacred Valley. “Tikapata” is the name of this alternative school that holds mostly the same ideals we believe in, and it is a growing project dedicated to the welfare of the children in their learning process as well as an inclusive school that has a very interesting approach to teaching and education.
Christmas party for the children
Since 2006 we organize a yearly event with kids of Pisaq town and some communities during Christmas time, mostly on the last week of the year. In spite of particular believes regarding Christmas, it is a time of just being together and remembering the gifts we have and share them with others.
We started with 20 kids an 2006 and keep growing each year. In 2010 we held a party for almost 60 kids offering them a party with games, breakfast and gifts for each kid. Many of our friends staying in this time of the year in Pisaq help us organize this event and be with the children. Special thanks to Trina, Jennifer, Cristina and all the ones that so far have helped us in this project that again makes us remember the importance of giving back all the blessings we receive and keep the energy flowing in and out of the community.
Helping Taray
The rainy season of 2010 (January-March), was really heavy and with unusual precipitations. There was much damage caused by the flooding of the Wilcamayu, main river of the Sacred Valley. Due to the rains in January, this river flooded in different areas of the Sacred Valley with the result of many loses including the main bridge that communicates Pisaq to Cusco; damages in different communities: many people lost their houses and the crops were also damaged.
In March due to more rains, not only the river but mudslides starting happening all over the place. Mayor damages on the road connecting Pisaq to Cusco and Taray, a small town of the Sacred Valley, was almost destroyed by the mudslides and the river. Not only the main town but also its communities some of which are as high as 4,000 m over sea level were people had to leave their houses to move to tents.
Thanks to many of our friends and people who wanted to help, we were able to be a channel of distribution of donations to this communities. We brought them -in more than ten trips to communities- not only food, blankets, flashlights and so on, but also working materials. From March till late July we kept visiting communities trying to cooperate in their re building process.
