Accompanying in the moment of death
To put it simply, what is important when the moment of death comes is that you are helping somebody to create an environment whereby it may be the only moment when they can come to terms with death.

Appreciation and Integration of the dharma
There are two special issues which I believe are of fundamental significance for the future: the need to cultivate a much deeper appreciation of the teachings and what they really offer and represent; and the attention that must be given to how true integration of the teachings takes place in the student's mind and heart.

Calm abiding
“Water, if unstirred, will become clear” In just the same way, the very nature of mind is such that if you do not alter, fabricate, or manipulate it with needless thinking, it will, by itself, find its own natural state of peace and well-being.

Love and Universal love
Generally, when we talk about love, it is more a love that we have for our friends, but not our enemies. It is a limited love, whereas the limitless love comes from deep reflection.

Misunderstandings
Our problems, all come from nothing; they are all based on a misunderstanding that does not even exist.

Sogyal Rinpoche - Rajiv Mehrotra
I think life and death is part of a whole, but unfortunately we don't look at it that way. We become attached to life and deny and reject death, which becomes our ultimate fear. In fact, when you look beneath the fear, the fear is that of not having to look into ourselves.

The future of buddhism
Take the issue of making changes and adaptation, for example. It is time now, I feel, to present the essence of the teachings, without cultural paraphernalia, and yet without compromising the force or edge of the Dharma, while at the same time offering something appropriate for the conditions and mentality of modem Western people. This is the challenge. Not to remain too rigidly traditional but to adapt in an authentic manner.

The future of buddhism II
I cannot agree more that education must be our priority, to provide different kinds of trainings and our need to offer the heart of Buddhism to the education system at every level, and to create contemplative universities. The future of humanity is linked to the accessibility of spiritual teachings like the Buddhadharma. In our countries there is an almost desperate hunger and need for spiritual vision.

The three commitments of Dharma
In Buddhism, there are three essential aspects to the teaching of the Buddha: commit not a single unwholesome action, cultivate the wealth of virtue and tame the mind.
